hello Autumn!

The Autumn Equinox starts in the early morning on Monday, September 23, marking the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere.  Equinox means equal night and on the Equinox, the hours of day and night are the same.  This represents the perfect balance of light and dark, of the inner and outer, the male and female, and the physical and spiritual.

The qualities of autumn (from now until the Winter Solstice in December) are HARVEST (Abundance), GRATITUDE (Blessings/Generosity), BALANCE (Inner/Outer Equilibrium), and COMPLETION (Endings & Letting Go).

The changing of the seasons offers us the opportunity to honor the cycles of nature and their deeper personal meaning in our lives. Each of the four seasons has its own specific qualities and represents an important step in the cycle of creation.

This is a great time to reflect on how the qualities of abundance, gratitude, balance and completion are showing up in your life and experience.

Here are some simple things you can do to embrace and activate the fall season’s energy into your life over the next 3 months.

HARVEST (Abundance): Though the course of a year, what begins with a positive thought, idea, inspiration or intention eventually manifests in some kind of harvest.

This may be tangible, like vegetables from your garden, good health, a new relationship or accomplishment. Or you may experience it as just feeling better inside from positive personal shifts, healing, transformation and practices that have improved your well-being and quality of life. For example, if you added a meditation practice this year, you may feel a deeper connection to yourself.  It may also come from a change in your state of mind, letting go of old hurts, or learning something new that you feel good about.  Your annual harvest includes everything you can think of that has added something good to your life.

EXERCISE: Take a few days or a week to write down every single thing (large and small) that you have accomplished this past year.  Read it out loud and feel good about your progress and your journey!

GRATITUDE (Blessings):  Take some time to celebrate and feel grateful for all of your blessings! The fall season includes Thanksgiving and rightly so!  It’s the time to connect with what’s really important, what we value and to that which has real meaning in our lives.

EXERCISE: Write down as many things as you can think of that you’re grateful for.  If you already have a gratitude journal, build on it. If you don’t, this is a great time to start one!  And don’t forget to be grateful for who you are. Everyone is wonderful in many ways and it’s always good to look at what’s right in yourself instead of what’s not.  Life is a gift.  You are a gift!

When you’re done you might want to read your list out loud.  Start with: I AM GRATEFUL FOR _____ . Feel it in your heart and body and let all that good energy fill you up with happy and positive feelings!

Generosity is in the air now!  Now that you’ve counted your blessings it’s time to give back. Start to think about what you can do to brighten someone’s day, to help someone in need, volunteer a little time or share from your heart.  Giving and receiving are two sides of the same coin.  They work together to balance each other. The more your give, the more you will receive especially if you give without expecting anything in return.  And it feels really good! Have fun with it!

BALANCE (Inner/Outer Equilibrium): On the autumn equinox, day and night are in perfect balance.  You can look at your own inner and outer balance, too.  In our hectic world, balance is something that most people can improve on.

EXERCISE: Some questions you might think about are:

Is there an area of your life (personal, professional, spiritual) that is out of balance?   What about self-care?  This is the area that usually comes last for busy people.  By self-care I mean taking good care of yourself emotionally, physically and spiritually. For true health, all of these areas must be nurtured and cared for. Maybe it’s time to devote a little time each day or even once a week just for you!

Do you feel drained, stressed out and overwhelmed?  Take a look at where you are spending your time, energy and money to see if some adjustments might be helpful.  Be gentle with yourself and think about some areas that you’d like to start making small or big changes in that would improve your quality of life and allow you to recharge and replenish.

Sometimes just thinking about the areas you’d like to bring into balance can motivate you to choose something better over the next year. During the Winter Solstice, I will provide the next steps for zeroing in on what you’d like to create this coming year!

COMPLETION (Endings and Letting Go)
Following the harvest of fruits, vegetables and seeds, the plants naturally die and are recycled into the earth.  In time, they will become compost that will improve the soil for next year’s crops.

As the days and nights become colder and shorter, the seeds become dormant, resting and preparing for their next cycle of rebirth.  Out of these seeds, new plants are born in the spring.

Farmers will now measure the year’s success based on their harvest and they’ll begin making plans for the next year.  What was good?  What could be better?  What can I do differently to ensure a more abundant harvest next fall?

EXERCISE: This is also a great time for you to take a closer look at your life and think about what you have harvested over the past year. What’s going on?  Are you happy, healthy and fulfilled? Everything you see, feel and experience in your life began with a seed and whether you’re aware of what thoughts, intentions, energy and/or actions created them; you can see what is manifesting through your current experience.  If there is an area that’s lacking, think about what you want to do differently to bring about a better result over the next year.

There may also be something in your life that needs to complete or that you need to let go of now. Is it time to let go of something that no longer serves you?  Is it time to change and transform bad habits, negative thoughts and limiting beliefs that are hurting your quality of life?

This is a perfect time to think about an upgrade in your diet/nutrition, to let go of old hurts, create better boundaries and/or transform your inner self-talk.  You may also want to shed the old patterns that hold you back and release anything or anyone that zaps your energy or sabotages your goals and dreams for a happy, healthy, rich and fulfilling life!

During the next 3 months until the Winter Solstice, the nights will grow longer and the cold temperatures and darkness bring about the end of the harvest time and the beginning of our inward journey to rest.

Meditation, reflection, writing and alone time will help you become centered and calm within. This allows for greater clarity about your personal, professional and spiritual goals. New ideas, dreams and intentions can begin to emerge.  It’s very important to create space within for new energy!

Last year’s seeds can be reborn in an improved way and/or completely new seeds can be planted, too! Jot down all of your ideas over the next 3 months. I hope it’s fun for you to think about this!

During the winter solstice period starting in December, all of your ideas, dreams and goals can start to take shape in preparation for planting in the spring!

Happy Autumn! I hope this season finds you well and that are experiencing an abundant harvest!  May your life be full of lots of love and many blessings! Donna

1) What exactly is "healing" ?
The words “healing”, “health” and “holiness” are rooted in the word “whole”. “Healing” is a dynamic process of positive inner change and transformation that restores harmony  and balance within. As human beings, our essential wholeness expresses through our minds, our emotions, our physical body and our spiritual nature.  These aspects are completely interconnected and they continuously influence each other.  This is what the mind-body connection is all about.
Challenges, struggles, disharmony or disease in your life are signals for you to look within and pay attention.  These experiences are sending you a powerful message that some aspects of your being are out of balance and requiring your immediate consideration.  The bigger the problem, the stronger this need becomes.
For example, physical symptoms and illnesses are outward expressions of psychological or spiritual inner conflicts, and we can use them as guides for inner change and transformation.  When someone is healing a physical problem, it will always call for emotional healing, always relate to mental beliefs and thinking patterns, and always offer an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth.  In the same way, mental, emotional or spiritual difficulties, imbalances and chronic daily stress will always have impacts on your health, relationships, emotional well-being, personal happiness, fulfillment, etc..

2) How does the mind-body connection work in our daily lives?
In order to be physically healthy, we need to make good choices in diet, nutrition and exercise.  Everything you put into your physical body such as the food, supplements, water, therapies, etc. are being digested and broken down into an energy form that your body will use to carry out all of the necessary functions of health.  If you don’t take care of your body, over time it will probably compromise your health.
But what people may not realize is that the choices we make each day related to what we think about, what we believe, how we feel, what we do and what we allow in our lives is also being digested and turned into an energy form that your physical body uses as well.
The mind-body connection is active 24 hours a day, generating a ripple effect of responses through our energy systems.  If we’re balanced and in harmony within, these will produce good things.  If not, they can interfere with our body’s healthy functioning and eventually may cause disharmony and dis-ease in our lives.  It’s really important to be just as selective about what we feed our mind, emotions and spirit as we are about the physical things we put into our body each day.

3)  What happens during a typical healing session?
Each Intuitive Healing Session is designed to provide healing, answers and solutions for all kinds of problems and challenges.  It includes an intuitive reading of the problem, a deep, energy-based healing treatment and a practical action plan.
I’ll begin each session with a discussion about what’s happening, what my client is interested in and we’ll set an intention for the healing.
Then we’ll begin the healing treatment and I’ll do a full body intuitive scan. There is a deep wisdom within each of us that knows exactly why we face the challenges we do and what our lessons and learning are.  As an Intuitive Healer, I have the ability to connect directly with this wisdom.
I’m instantly put in touch with the deeper energetic,  psychological and spiritual reasons for why a challenge is happening and also what actions and changes are needed to move beyond it.
Many of my clients are doing everything they know how to do and yet they still feel stuck in their lives.  Sometimes health issues are slow to heal or not healing at all, relationship struggles persist, they’re unhappy and unfulfilled,  or they may feel blocked in some area of their lives.  This always indicates that there are some inner needs that are not being addressed properly.  I’ll serve as the bridge between what they already know and what they need to know to feel better, get well and move forward towards their goals.
As I receive information and guidance on my client’s behalf,  I will share the messages I receive and tell them exactly what the inner causes and solutions are.  All of the associated areas requiring healing will stand out as stuck, shut down or disconnected energy.   These blockages may look like concrete areas of heaviness or darkness, stagnant pools of emotion or clogged up systems or organs in the body’s energy systems.   I’ll help them address and process the psychological and spiritual issues necessary to release these blockages.  Once clear, I’ll  re-establish healthy energy flow to restore harmony and balance.   This creates positive shifts within that will naturally produce equal positive changes and transformation in their lives.
To complete , I’ll offer personalized instruction, action steps and guidance based on my findings to ensure continued healing and transformation following the session.

4) Do these kinds of healing techniques go back a long way, or is it a recent/contemporary thing?
Methods of working with energy have been practiced for thousands of years throughout many different cultures around the world.  I suspect they have been practiced for as long as people have existed.  There is an invisible world of radiant, living, creative energy that permeates everything in our physical world.  All healing techniques and modalities tap into and offer ways to consciously direct this energy for positive change, transformation and healing.
Intuitive Healing and other types of energy medicine are definitely becoming more well-known and accepted as an important avenue for healing in mainstream culture today.  This field has come a long way since 1989 when I started working professionally as an Intuitive Healer.  In the mid to late 80’s, scientists in quantum physics began to prove that energy creates matter and scientific results offered an understanding about how the power of energy could be used to stimulate healing and transformation in people.  There were certainly people who knew and wrote about these principles but it wasn’t until the advent of the internet for personal home use in the late ‘90’s that the information, research and ideas became accessible to everyone.  I noticed a big change in the level of awareness soon after that.  There were also some key people who brought the science and concepts out into the mainstream in a way that resonated with millions of people.  Now it’s definitely more well-known and there is a growing respect for the value of energy medicine and the mind-body connection for healing, recovery and health.

5) How are you *different* from a traditional therapist or doctor?
The services and therapies we provide are different yet very complimentary.  We work on different aspects of the same types of problems.  For instance, many people who are dealing with a major health issue or illness will form a “health care team” of professionals and I often assist therapists and doctors as part of this team.  For example, I work at Namaste Health Center where one of many things they offer is integrative cancer support.  People will come to Durango from all over the country to receive the valuable, natural treatments and therapies they offer for patients with cancer.  As they receive the physical treatments, I help them resolve the deeper mental, emotional and spiritual conflicts, teach them how to use the power of their minds to super-charge their treatments and help to restore energetic balance, harmony and wholeness within.

6) What is “intuition”? Are some people, like yourself, just way more intuitive than others? How did you first realize that?
Intuition is a state of instant pure knowing that comes through the spiritual senses and is independent of reasoning and conscious thinking.  The more you listen to and follow your intuitive guidance, the stronger and more reliable it becomes.   If you neglect or reject your intuition, it will move into the background and can become dormant.  This is what happens to so many people as they rely solely on their rational thinking and their five  physical senses.  People may get an intuitive “hit” that something is right or wrong for them and then their analytical mind will talk them out of it.  This is such a mistake because the rational mind makes decisions from what it already knows and the intuitive senses give  you input and information about what you do not or cannot know intellectually.
I have always had a strong and sensitive intuitive and empathic nature.  I’ve never questioned it and I honestly thought everyone was like that.  I had a very difficult childhood and I used to sit in nature and commune with the spiritual world.  It was my safe place.  I also innately knew about healing and I would rescue animals caught by my cats and hold them in my hands to heal them.  It was very natural to me.  It was many years before I became aware that everyone didn’t have these abilities.

7) What if someone is very closed-off emotionally ? Will you be able to "read" or help them, or is it a lot tougher?
If someone is closed-off emotionally it doesn’t affect my ability to “read” or work with them at all.  In fact many of my clients are struggling with repressed, stuck and shut down emotional energy.  E-motion stands for energy in motion which means it is meant to flow and move.  Emotions are powerful creators of energy and experience and yet they are one of the most misunderstood aspects of life. As children, we  are not usually taught how to work with our feelings in a healthy way.  When feelings are felt and released properly they don’t cause problems but when they are denied, ignored or repressed they generate huge amounts of toxic energy that creates burdens  in the physical body.  Many diseases and chronic health issues are related to emotional stresses in the body over a long period of time.  I love helping people open up to their emotional natures.

8) If you're talking to one person, can you also peek into the energy of someone else they might be asking about -- or do you need their permission?
I will always ask permission intuitively when doing a reading  or a healing for someone who hasn’t asked for the session themselves.  This allows me to work with children, animals, loved ones and friends who may be unable to request healing for themselves.
Everyone has the ability to refuse the session or block access to information in a reading however in the 26 years that I have been an Intuitive Healer,  I have only had 2 people say no.  In that case I do not continue.   It’s unusual because most people will give permission on the soul level.
Healing for family, loved ones and friends can be really helpful to all involved.  I do a lot of relationship healings where one person is with me and yet both people can receive healing during the session.  I can help bridge communication gaps and help couples and families understand the patterns that arise in their relationships and families.

9) Do you think everyone has multiple past lives? What do your past life regression sessions entail?
Yes, I do think everyone has had multiple lives, often thousands of lives, and that we live many lifetimes based on a central theme or set of lessons. Our spiritual plan prior to each birth helps us create the right conditions, circumstances and relationships that offer the most potential for our learning, development and evolution.
Many of your current patterns, relationships, gifts, lessons, challenges, etc. might actually stem from a previous life. While we receive positive gains from what we have mastered, we also create opportunities to work through our unresolved past life conflicts and issues.  In my healing work with clients,  I have found that past life traumas often come up as the cause of current challenges.  Processing and clearing those experiences  can open important channels for healing, recovery and health now.
In a past life regression I will guide you into a deep and relaxed meditative state.  I’ll help you access the place within you that holds the memories of your past lives.   You’ll move back in time through this life to remember good experiences.  Then you’ll enter into one of your past lives.  You’ll have the opportunity to explore several  times in the life. After you move through the end of the life, you’ll immediately experience pure spiritual  energy as you soar and fly free of the physical body.  People love this part because it feels so good.  Then I’ll guide you to meet one or more of your Spiritual Guides. Here you can ask questions or simply bask in the light and love of Spirit.  To finish, I will guide you back into this time and this place.  I offer private and group Past Life and Life Between Lives Regression.
